Router won't connect to modem Hello, my Netgear R7000 router won't recognize and distribute a Internet connection from my modem (which is wired only), I can tell this because the light that is labeled with a world is blank, like there is no connection being sent to the router.

I recently upgraded my router so went to update the information for it with the extender and have now run into issues with it even connecting to the device. The first thing, the PC should be the last device that is started - and only after the broadband modem is fully operational (in sync).
You need to connect to the router using a Ethernet cable to your Mac before you change the password. Then type http://192.168.1.1/ into the browser address area. That gets you into the router set-up. Then you need to enter a name (SSID) and encryption type (WEP, WPA) and a password.

I finally remembered my Comcast router user/pass combo and have been able to tell it instead of "auto" on channels when it boots, to force 5GHz to 153(p), so hopefully that just takes care of it for me going forward.
