Evidently apple changed the pin configuration or something- the ipod would play but would only charge via the usb port on my computer. Such a pain! Anyway, I found a smoking deal here on Amazon for the 16 gig 1st generation ipod touch. I basically needed a new ipod to play music, which is all I used the old one for.
